Artificial Grass Rejuvenation

How it works.

Step One: Treatment

Your Tennis Court will be treated for Moss and Weed growth.
It is important to apply the treatment in dry weather to maximise efficacy.

Step Two: De-contamination

After two to three weeks the growth will be ready to clean. Using various industrial brooms the moss and weed will be extracted from the carpet pile. The contaminates will then be filtered and removed from the court.

Step Three: Finishing

Now that the court has been cleaned we need to get it ready for play. Sand is re-distributed across the playing surface and leveled. The court is groomed for consistency and longevity.

FAQs

  • Moss loves the damp, dark and cold. Shady areas typically around the edges of the court is where Moss growth will start in the Autumn months. Control the build up of leaves and sediment (ideally weekly) and brush the susceptible areas to disturb any spores. Unfortunately once the moss takes hold it’s a bit trickier to remove. Prevention is always better!

  • A Tennis Court that is in good maintainable condition at a Tennis Club will use on average a minimum 100kg of brick-dust a month. A residential court will require less because it has less traffic and play.

A standard full top dress can use anywhere between 800kg and 1600kg depending on the size of the court, any damage, and how bare it is.

A rejuvenation might require 2500kg to 5000kg! If damage is severe (this will be in multiple applications to help restore the base).

  • The bottom of your shoes!
The wind, weather, bagging and patterns of players can also move sand to the court perimeter.
Over time sand will compact into the pile. Regular grooming will de-compact the sand and re-erect the carpet pile. Sand can be re-distributed from the court edges and new sand added as required. It’s important to maintain sand levels. If your court is low on sand and the pile is flat or bent over—you will be wearing out your carpet at a much faster rate. This is because your wearing out the fibers further down closer to the base.

  • Regular Court Maintenance gives you the highest quality performance and best looking courts for a longer period of time. Regular visits allows the court technician to identify any developing issues with the surface and fix them before they turn into a big problem requiring costly re-surfacing, re-construction or become a risk to health and safety.

  • A new court is installed with about 12 Tonnes of kiln dried sand. When you pressure wash a court this sand gets blown out and turns to a sloppy mess that usually has to be removed. Then the sand has to be replaced. The pressure wash also puts stress on the seams of the carpet and can blow out fibers.

We prefer our brushing method because it is less aggressive, it focuses on the top few mm of the carpet pile (where the growth is) and allows the majority of sand to be filtered and re-used.
